The Random Playing Cards
Random Playing Cards is a quick, simple and fun activity and proposal to facilitate the random mixing of people in your group. You can never have enough fun and engaging ways to invite your group to randomly connect with other people.
The premise behind this strategy is that most people prefer to be with other people they know or are familiar with. There is nothing wrong with this. people seek security and comfort.
However, this preference will never build or strengthen relationships in a group. Hence the need to give people a reason to seek out other people they would not normally be with or associate with.
Grab a pack of playing cards or two packs if your group is larger than 52 people. Randomly distribute one card to each person in your group.
Invite them to gather with all others who are holding, for example:
- Card of the same suit, eg hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades
- Card of the same value, eg all the 4’s get together, all the Kings get together, etc
- An odd or even card
- Everyone holding the same colour card
Depending on the size of the groups you want to form, you can choose the criteria for people to group together.
