Team Juggling Balls Challenge
Team juggling balls is an immensely fun group experience for new and established teams to come together and form bonds.
Gather everyone in a large circle and ask them to raise their hands. Throw a ball to the first person at random while saying their name. That person passes the ball further in the same way and lowers his hand.
Let the ball pass to everyone. Now this is where the fun begins.
Challenge the group and ask them to pass the ball in the same order but this time without raising their hand. Then add another ball a few seconds after the first that goes in the same order.
Increase the challenge and add a third ball that the team must pass in reverse order. And lastly, have the group pass all three balls at once.
Moment of Reflection
- What were the difficulties that your group identified in being able to repeat the series of ball passes without raising your hand?
- What problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?
- How did your team solve the challenge and how did they become competent?
- How did your team overcome the biggest challenge of repeating the sequence of passing the ball backwards?
- What were the difficulties in passing the three balls at the same time?
- How could this exercise reflect the constant changes and juggling of our responsibilities as a group?
