Why Relax and Focus Your Team?
Relax and focus your team at work is important because it can increase productivity and improve your decision-making skills. Also, it can help improve your health by reducing stress levels.
There are many reasons why people need to relax at work. Here are just a few benefits:
- Improve productivity: When you’re relaxed, you’re more likely to focus on the task at hand and less likely to get distracted.
- Make better decisions: In stressful situations, our brains tend to overanalyze things, leading to inefficient decision-making processes and possibly even poor decisions.
- Improve your health: Stress has been linked with various health problems such as heart disease and obesity.
Typically, team members are coming into the meeting directly after another meeting, and often with no chance to prepare. Because of the rush, many people aren’t fully focused and able to perform at their best.
If we take our team through a short process to give them a minute to re-focus, we will benefit from the time spent and be more productive.
Here are a few ideas to spend just two minutes grounding and focusing our team at the beginning of a meeting
- Pay attention to your senses. Allow people a few minutes to focus on your the body. For instructions, go to ‘Body Scan Meditation‘.
- Facilitate a two-minute guided breathing exercise. This simple ‘Meet Your Edge‘ guides your team through a simple 2 minutes breathing exercise to calm and ground listeners.
Not only are these helpful for your team, you can use these anytime you need to calm and center yourself. The beauty is they only take 2-minutes and they are extremely effective.
