The exercise of the 5-Minute Product
The 5-Minute Product is an activity that helps your team practice their presentation skills in a low-pressure environment.
Gather your group and form teams of four to five members each. Have each team select a product or service to present, real or fictional.
Set a strict time limit of 5 minutes for each team to prepare their pitch. A time constraint encourages teams to focus on the most critical aspects of their product.
During the preparation phase, encourage groups to brainstorm key features, benefits, target audiences, unique selling points, and any other relevant information about their product.
Once the preparation time is up, have each team present their product pitch to the rest of the group. Encourage teams to be creative, enthusiastic, and most importantly, have fun during their presentations.
Once all teams have presented their product, close with a debrief session where everyone can reflect on the experience. Discuss what went well and what could be improved.
Moment of Reflection
- Was it difficult to do this exercise? Why or why not?
- What made it difficult?
- What was the biggest challenge in this activity? The time limit to think about the presentation? Present the product to everyone and not make mistakes?
- What does this exercise teach us about working against the clock? Does it often happen that you have to prepare a job immediately and you hardly have time?
- When you have little time to prepare a job, what do you focus on? What strategy do you use to optimize time?
- Is there anything you would change if you did this same exercise again? What would you do differently?
