Quick Identification Game
Quick Identification is a fun and energizing concentration game to quickly identify and remember a person’s name.
Randomly separate your group into two, roughly even teams. Drape a large sheet or blanket between each team so that it hangs length-wise and upright with the bottom edge touching the floor.
Ask the members of each team to sit at least 2 metres (7′) back from the large sheet, in a position their opponents cannot see them from the other side. Invite one person from each team to move forward and sit directly in front of, and facing the sheet.
Explain that when the large sheet is dropped to the floor, the two people sitting closest to the screen are challenged to the name the other as quickly as possible. Whoever names the other person first wins their opponent for their team, ie the opponent switches loyalty and joins the winner’s team before the round resumes.
Continue playing for several minutes and then ramp up the challenge – ask for two people per team to sit facing the sheet. This time, the couple that manages to name their opponents first, in any order and by anyone, will win.
Invite several people to compete and play until the excitement subsides.
Moment of Reflection
- How did it feel to stare at the face of someone you knew, but could not recall the name quickly enough?
- What strategies helped you to recall a name quickly?
- What hindered you from accurately or rapidly recalling a name?
- How does pressure and competition influence the results in other areas of your life?
